Sports & Social Committee News
Didn’t we have a super time at Residents day, even the sun came along to join us. It was lovely to see so many of you there enjoying the day .. I met quite a few new residents and showed them around the clubhouse, hopefully we will see you all at many more events. A big thank you to all on the ‘sub ‘ sports and social committee for all your work putting this together ... thank you to all the volunteers that helped out on the day ...especially Jess Mennie for letting George sit down and taking over his BBQ duty.
We are slowly having more events at the clubhouse. Function bookings are being taken, Friday quiz night is back with no need to book a table, Wine’d down on the Terrace is back to normal and so is the clubhouse bar with us now not having to do table service. You do still need to wear a mask when moving around ... Next to re-start will be bar suppers on 1st October, then followed by Friday Bingo night on 8th October. (Check out the events page for more notice on these)
Cuppa and a Chat has been a great success during the summer months. On the whole we had sunny afternoons, so we could sit outside and enjoy the terrace. The last one is on 29th September and we will be doing this in aid of Macmillan Cancer support ... so please come and join us ... Bite and a Blether is not sure as yet about a starting date, watch the notice boards for this .. The Denmore Park Sports and Social Committee have made the decision that the Clubhouse bar and Function bar will stay CASHLESS ... we will only be taking CARDS for all bar payments ... all our bar rota volunteers feel this is so much better and the DBM’s much prefer not having to count cash up at the end of the night ...less mistakes are made too ...
Over the last couple of months we have had a lot of football shown on the big screen, please let us know if you would like to see any other sports shown on the big screen .. The clubhouse is open on a Friday and Saturday, 5pm to 11pm and Sunday 1pm - 4pm. As a club member you are allowed to sign in up to 7 guests.
Finally DPSSC would like to say a big THANK YOU to Sheila McKay, after 40 years of pulling pints, popping corks, helping out with many functions and countless other offers of her help, she has decided it’s time to retire and just come along to the clubhouse enjoy herself.... Sheila we will miss your smiling face behind the bar... Lots starting up for you all, hope to see you there ...
stay safe. Jackie Cowie ....
